Scheduling Appointments
This online scheduler is provided for your convenience. I think it's really user-friendly, but if it doesn't work for you, please feel free to call me at (617) 547-8500 to schedule.

Appointments for times not on the schedule: If you need a morning, evening or weekend appointment that is not on this schedule, just email me some possible times. I always have this type of time available, however it varies from week to week.
Fees for initial appointments are fixed and for followups are flexible – prorated based on how much time the appointment actually takes. (The minimum is half of the time that you scheduled – for example if you schedule a 60 minute appointment and only take 20 minutes, the minimum is 30 minutes for that slot.)
Free calls: only for prospective clients wanting more information before making a new-client appointment.
In person or by phone? I do my best work in person. If you live at a great distance or are homebound, I can do a Skype/webcam conference. Phone appointments are also possible for the first interview but it may be harder for me to get the information I need.
For followups, I prefer that you come in; however, I respect your busy schedule. I would rather have a phone appointment right away, rather than wait for an in-person appointment if that would create a substantial delay.
How long?
Initial appointment for an adult: 2-1/2 hours. Also for teenagers when the teenager will be doing all the talking for himself/herself.
If the parent(s) need to give substantial input about a teenager, schedule as if for a child, as follows:
- Initial appointment for kids, first part: a 45-minute appointment with the mother (or other caretaker best able to report on the child), without the child present; preferably in person but can be done by phone.
- Second part of the initial appointment for kids: a 30-minute appointment, must be with the child in person.
Followups
Thirty minutes is the standard length if we've had a followup within the past month. If it's been longer, consider a 45-minute appointment, or even 60 minutes if your situation is complicated or if you enjoy asking a lot of questions.
Same-day scheduling
This scheduler will automatically confirm that you have an appointment, but I might not know about it. I may only check my schedule at the beginning and end of each day.
In particular, please do not come in person for an appointment you scheduled the same day unless you get confirmation from me personally, thanks.
Cancellation policy
24 hours notice required (48 hours for new client appointments) or 50% of the appointment fee will be charged. We try to accommodate latecomers, but if we can't fit you in, the same fee will apply. This policy allows us to serve as many people as possible. Thank you for understanding.
